Business Development Consultant

PURPOSE OF THIS ROLE:

As a Business Development Consultant, you'll be at the forefront of our growth, generating leads and forging strong relationships with potential customers. Your main tasks will include meeting sales targets set by our Head of Business Development, identifying new business opportunities, and negotiating and closing deals effectively. You’ll also be collaborating internally to ensure that EDGE solutions are as impactful for our clients as they can be. Key responsibilities:
Sales and lead generation:
- Proactively generate leads through cold calling, email outreach, social media and networking
- Arrange meetings and product demonstrations with potential customers to showcase our offerings
- Build and maintain a sales pipeline to ensure a constant stream of sales opportunities
- Consistently meet or exceed KPIs and sales targets set by the Head of Business Development
- Identify and analyse opportunities for new business within the market
- Drive price negotiations and closing of sales to maximise revenue and profitability
- Stay informed about industry trends, market activities and competitors
Customer relationship management:
- Provide assistance and support to other members of the sales team to achieve collective goals
- Maintain strong relationships with key clients by making regular visits, understanding their needs and ensuring satisfaction
- Facilitate upselling and cross-selling opportunities to past and current customers to enhance revenue
- Update the CRM system diligently, capturing accurate and comprehensive information on customers and leads
- Deliver exceptional customer service and resolve any issues or concerns promptly
Reporting and support:
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearly sales projections along with pipeline reports
- Attend educational opportunities, conferences and workshops to stay updated on industry developments and enhance skills
- Execute ad hoc projects as requested by management, contributing to the overall success of the sales team
- Provide feedback and suggestions for continuous improvement of sales processes and strategies
- Work collaboratively with multiple departments at EDGE Education
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sales Executive or relevant role in B2B sales (two years min)
- Strong sales and negotiation skills with a track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in using CRM software and understanding of sales processes
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing or a related field is preferred
- Willingness to travel as needed
Desired skills:
- Experience in the education, publishing or EdTech industry
- Familiarity with digital sales tools and techniques
- Proven ability to adapt to new technologies and processes quickly
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and make informed decisions
- Multilingual abilities are a plus
