Position Overview: The Controller is a key leadership role responsible for managing the financial operations of Matsu Senior Services. This position will oversee the financial reporting, budgeting, and accounting functions to ensure the financial health and compliance of the organization. The Controller will work closely with the senior management team to support strategic planning and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
· Financial Management:
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
· Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads and senior management.
- Prepare and present budget performance reports and financial forecasts to the executive team and Board of Directors.
- Monitor budget variances and provide recommendations for cost control and efficiency improvements.
· Audit and Compliance:
- Coordinate and oversee annual audits and prepare necessary documentation for external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and reporting requirements.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
· Strategic Financial Planning:
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic planning and organizational growth.
- Assist in the evaluation of financial implications of new programs, services, and funding opportunities.
- Participate in long-term financial planning and risk management initiatives.
· Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment, promoting a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Coordinate with other departments to facilitate effective financial management and communication.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience in nonprofit accounting, healthcare, or senior services is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations applicable to nonprofit organizations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
