POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Billing Manager, the Biller is responsible for completing, correcting, and processing claims to the highest quality of data according to all regulatory standards (including HIPAA) and in a timely manner. The Biller is to fix all errors such as missing CPT, CDT and ICD-9 codes, ICD-10, HCPCS and be in compliance with FQHC Billing. The Biller may also be required to perform other clerical and billing duties as assigned by the Billing Manager.

Review patient bills for accuracy data, completeness, and make corrections as needed.

Process and send claims for CHDP, Medi-Cal, CPSP, HMO (Manage care), Medicare, Liberty, Healthnet, Access Dental and other funding sources.

Update EMR with billing information under the Billing Managers order.

Assist in the process and procedures to improve the billing system.

Order necessary forms for the department if needed under the Billing Managers order.

Post fees to control sheets and patient ledgers.

Post Payments receive from Insurances.

Performs other duties as assigned by Billing Manager
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.
- EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATION:

High School Diploma OR equivalent
- Certificate of completion for an accredited Billing and Coding program OR Certified Code Certificate OR equivalent

Preferred one year of experience in billing and/or coding OR one year experience in a clinical setting

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

Ability to conduct oneself in a profession manner
- Ability to cooperative and collaborate with a team of dental professional to provide non-discriminatory care to underserved patient populations
- Ability to use Word, Excel, Power point, and Outlook

Ability to learn and use Electronic Health Record Systems (e.g., IMS, EPIC and Dentrix).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high volume environment.

The work environment is characteristic of a clinic environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to handle or feel. The employee is also required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must also possess hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone. The noise level in the work environment is usually noisy.
