Senior Lead Teacher Specialist Job Description: Temporary Position
A multi-service community center since 1875, the East End House has a long history of meeting the needs of families and children in East Cambridge and the broader Cambridge community. East End House offers a pipeline of services for children and families of all ages, including early childhood care and education. East End House programs are highly regarded and seek to be a leader in the field at all times.
Position Summary:
East End House is seeking a strong leader with lead teacher experience in childcare programs to serve children between three and five years old. The Specialist be in the classroom focused on ensuring strong classroom structure, implementation of curriculum, and behavior management.
This position requires at least 30 hours/week; it is a temporary position but could be extended and become full-time and long term. This position will report to the Senior Director of Early Education.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Help plan and lead implementation of curricula, activities, and daily practices that ensure a safe program with high quality educational experiences for young people. We use Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold
- Establish and maintain a classroom culture that promotes learning and behavioral guidance.
- Support children with a variety of special needs.
- Create a warm, caring, and welcoming environment for all children and their families.
- Ensure the program meets quality standards, EEC regulations, and best practices.
- Problem-solving issues of daily classroom operations.
- Work closely with the Senior Director and other staff to
- Foster positive relationships and maintain regular communication with children's families.
- Use The Ages and Stages Questionnaire and Teaching Strategies Gold to evaluate and improve programming.
- Attend all required staff meetings and trainings.
Requirements:
- EEC Lead Teacher Certified
- A college degree in a related field is required.
- Minimum of four years of varied experience working in a childcare environment.
- Experience with 21st Century Community Learning Centers and EEC-licensed programs preferred.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal & team-building skills
- Must be enthusiastic about working with and enriching the lives of children and youth
- Must be an excellent problem-solver who can balance multiple tasks and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be First Aid/CPR certified by the start date.
