We are looking for a dynamic, professional, highly-skilled legal administrative assistant interested in being part of an exceptional litigation group that handles first party property litigation. The ideal candidate should be dependable, detail-oriented, organized and motivated to participate in the all phases of litigation. This position supports a team of attorneys.
Responsibilities for Legal Administrative Assistant - Insurance Defense
- Typing/editing general correspondence, memoranda, and complex legal documents
- Prepare correspondence, pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses and stipulations
- Electronic filing experience in State court (Federal a plus)
- Provide attorneys with calendar deadlines for the week ahead
- Proofreading documents and check for appropriate formatting, spelling, and grammar
- Conflict check and file creation paperwork
- Organize and maintain electronic file documents
- Arrange hearings, depositions, CMEs, meetings and conferences
- Calendaring of deadlines, trial orders, etc.
- Follow-up on delegated assignments
- Attorney expense entry
- Process vendor invoices
- Perform other duties as may be assigned
Qualifications for Legal Administrative Assistant - Insurance Defense:
- High school diploma (Bachelor's Degree a plus)
- Prior Legal Secretarial Experience a must
- 2+ years litigation experience (preferably insurance defense)
- Type 60 to 80 words per minute
- Ability to manage a high volume of work with accuracy
- Strong working knowledge of Florida’s ePortal system and judicial scheduling procedures
- Federal ECF experience a plus
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic workplace
- Excellent organizational skills
- Proofread and file legal documents
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
- Worldox, Chrome River, Aderant experience a plus or alternatively, familiarity with a billing and case management system
