We are in search of a Controller to join our small team in Houston,. This role is essential to our daily financial and accounting operations. The ideal candidate will manage financial statements, oversee accounts payable and receivable, handle and reconcile all checking accounts, and assist with other financial duties. This role will also require strong interpersonal skills as you will be communicating effectively with customers, employees, and vendors.
Responsibilities:
- Enter and pay A/P invoices, research and correct past due invoices
- Manage company insurance policies- document incidents and submit claims as necessary
- Manage and collect employee personal charges accounts (Verizon, electric bill, etc.)
- Cash flow management and projection
- Bank account management
- Month end, quarterly, and yearly financial close out and financial statement preparation
- Preparation and delivery of annual reports to CPA for tax return preparation
- Manage all property tax accounts
- Manage the construction lending
- Property Management: manage any and all tenants (and the rental property) either from land purchased or land owned and rented out Property Management as needed
- Manage and maintain office filing systems
- Prepare 1099s each year
- Prepare the annual Budget
- Must possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Controller role or similar position
- Demonstrable proficiency in performing bank reconciliations
- Exceptional knowledge and experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP)
- Strong financial acumen and ability to make sound financial decisions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with various departments
- Proficiency in using financial software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred
- CPA or CMA certification would be an advantage
- Familiarity with financial regulations and standards
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.5
