Job Summary:
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) plays a crucial role in providing rehabilitative services to individuals with physical, emotional, or developmental impairments. Working under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists, the COTA helps clients achieve their goals for improving their overall quality of life and ability to perform daily activities.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist in evaluating clients' functional abilities and limitations
2. Develop and implement customized treatment plans
3. Conduct therapeutic activities to improve clients' motor skills, coordination, and strength
4. Train clients in the use of adaptive equipment and techniques to facilitate independence
5. Collaborate with occupational therapists and other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care
6. Monitor clients' progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
7. Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Must be a graduate of an accredited COTA program
2. Hold a valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
3. State licensure required
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
5. Ability to work effectively in a team setting
6. Demonstrated knowledge of occupational therapy principles and practices
