Transportation Services company seeks to hire an Accounting Manager in its Pasadena, Texas office location. The Accounting Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the Accounting Department and will primarily lead the creation of monthly financial statements, and the monthly close process. The Accounting Manager is responsible for all of the following accounting functions: accounts payable, payroll, cash management, accounts receivable, revenue recognition, general ledger, inventory, fixed assets and balance sheet reconciliation for full month end reporting. This position truly offers exposure to all of the company's operations, and also offers rapid progression to a Controller position once core competencies are demonstrated.
Location: Pasadena, TX
Compensation: $95K - $115K salary, depending on experience. A discretionary bonus (paid out quarterly) is also offered.
Schedule: standard day shift schedule (8 hours daily Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week) - occasional overtime as needed.
Work Location: position will be 100% office-based from the Pasadena, Texas office.

Responsibilities:
- Oversight of daily accounting activities and the adherence to and implementation of internal controls, processes and procedures.
- Oversight of the accounting team, which includes managing more than 10 personnel. Additional responsibilities involve interviewing, hiring, and training new employees, conducting performance reviews, and addressing any personnel issues that may arise.
- Responsible for the periodic close (month-end, quarterly and annual) ensuring that all financial information is captured in the accounting system, and completed prior to deadlines.
- Ensures that company financial records are maintained in compliance with company policies and US GAAP
- Preparing GL reconciliations and reviewing reconciliations of others
- Responsible for all manual accounting entries to ensure accuracy and acquire monthly approval of all manual entries from Controller.
- Manage merchant accounts, payments, W9’s, tax exempt forms, auto-pay set-up and oversight.
- Manage banking activities including bank reconciling items, banking fees, ACH payments, AP (Accounts Payable) Vendor payment oversight and positive pay exceptions.
- Submit an invoice copy of all invoices posted to the balance sheet (i.e., prepaids, assets, etc.) in monthly Controller review file.
- Provide oversight of drivers' pay, company employees’ payroll and auditing process.
- Track weekly Cash Forecast to include known future payments (Tax payments, Distributions, etc.)
- Assist the Controller with additional activities as required:
- Create work plans for the Accounting Department to establish clear expectations and timelines. Oversee the planning and follow through of goals, development and training for department staff.
- Preparation and analysis for annual review to be submitted to Controller for approval prior to submission to 3rd party.
- Compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and taxing authorities – provide list of all known tax/license/etc. to include entity, manner of filing, access information, due date and responsible party.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
- CPA license preferred but not required.
- Must have previous supervisory experience.
- Must be willing to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and stay organized to effectively multitask, without missing deadlines.
- Previous experience with ERP systems (Sage Intacct preferred)
- Experience with ERP system implementations or migrations is a plus.
- 5+ years of work experience showing expertise across all accounting functions, including AR, AP, and fixed assets accounting
- Previous public accounting / external audit experience is preferred but not required.
- Must be able to assemble financial statements with just trial balances
