Position Summary
This position will be working on projects and events associated with the Chiricahua Centennial Events, National Park commemoration event, and other special events and programs within the Southeast Arizona group (Chiricahua National Monument, Coronado National Memorial, and Fort Bowie National Historical Site). In addition to special events and annual events/programs, this position will be highly focused in Visual Information Specialist type skills; such as Annual Event Calendars, Social Media posts and outreach, NPS website postings, creation of event bulletins/announcements/press releases, and website redesign. This position will also be attending specialized trainings and the majority of events on calendar, helping to oversee the event function, operations, and engagement with the public during the events. The goal is to create an Annual Events calendar, help to plan out and create operations for new and recurring events with focus on Centennial.
Additional trainings and attendance to other disciplines within the parks will also be offered; such as Resources: Bat Mist-netting, air & water quality field sampling, wildlife monitoring; Maintenance: Specialized projects of interest; Interpretation: Interp programming- writing and creation of programs, direction and ICS of special events, visitor services; Trails: PSAR trail hikes, SAR operations, etc. as interest arises in cross training per candidate.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Duties:
- Work with Park Leadership on Centennial Event planning (all aspects)
- Create Annual Event Plan calendar
- Create new Social Media posts and outreach regarding events
- Create/update/refresh NPS website(s) for Event and Program postings
- Train, learn: Incident Command System for Special Events and Emergency Operations
- NPS to provide cross training throughout all Park disciplines for skills development of selectee
Marginal Duties
- Working with Interpretation Division with Visitor Services, Outreach, and Programs
- Working with other Divisions on specialized field projects for skills building and career development opportunities
- Working with Volunteers-In-Parks (VIPs) to assist in onboarding, management, and training of volunteers
- Operation of a variety of government vehicles for self and visitor transport

- Ability to operate a government vehicle; including passenger vehicle, Shuttle van (15 passenger), and UTV/ATV (training and certificate will be provided for UTV/ATV operations)

Living accommodations:
- On-site, In-Park (Chiricahua) housing- 3 bedroom, 2 bath unit with 2 car covered carport. 1 minute walk to Visitor Center (office location for selectee).
- Private, locking room with shared large common spaces which include Kitchen, Living, and outdoor porches. Two refrigerators.
- Large front yard and private back yard with shade trees.
- Free, 24/7 on-site laundry facility (100 yards in Laundry building) with new Industrial size front-loader washers and dryers.
- Access to indoors gym and workout facility on-site (1 minute walk, within housing area)

Compensation
- In-park housing; private room with shared common space with up to 2 other persons (may be seasonal NPS and/or other Interns). - $400 weekly stipend payments - $1,100 round-trip travel allowance - $5,176 AmeriCorps education award (eligible upon completion of 12 weeks of service)
