POSITION: HVAC Technician

REQUIREMENTS:
- Fingerprint/background screening required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two to three years of experience in routine maintenance of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning or possess knowledge of completing a certified trade school.
- Oral and written communication skills.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The following statements of essential functions and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position. Actual duties and responsibilities may vary depending on building assignment and other factors determined with supervisor and/or building principal.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates and maintains the following systems: District's HVAC, HVAC controls, Automated HVAC, domestic hot water, and electrical systems.
- Run an HVAC scheduling program.
- Performs and oversees recurring preventative maintenance on District HVAC, refrigeration and computer systems.
- Investigate and analyze problems with electric, and direct digital controls.
- Estimates material and labor costs for repair or installation projects. Assists and cross trains in other trades.
- Perform annual maintenance on all District HVAC equipment. Perform regular facilities safety inspections.
- Maintain all District heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment and systems. Perform emergency repairs as needed.
- Ability to troubleshoot, navigate, and/or replace visual logic controllers, variable frequency drives, building control modules, and actuators.
- Develop, implement, and maintain preventive maintenance programs for all District HVAC equipment and systems.
- Perform electrical repairs on motors and controls used in HVAC systems. Repair or replace electric motors and controls used in HVAC systems.
- Maintain, inspect, analyze, and repair flame safeguard systems on boilers and roof-mounted gas fired heating equipment.
- Install upgrades to equipment and systems to maximize efficiency and safety.
- Cut, bend, thread, ream, assemble, caulk, solder, and weld various pipes, metal fittings, and joints.
- Inspect, supervise, and approve contract work to ensure compliance with building codes, safety codes, and accepted industry practices.
- Replace pump seals, motors, impellers, etc.
- Performs hand and bench work utilizing power tools and shop equipment.
- Recommends and supports equipment and supply purchases.
- Coordinates projects with other trades.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Training and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus specialized courses in HVAC, HVAC controls, plumbing, electrical, and refrigeration.
- Over three years of experience in the repair and maintenance of HVAC, and HVAC controls systems.
- One year experience in programming HVAC controls.
- Experience in refrigeration, low voltage electrical, and plumbing systems preferred.
- Mech 4 required. EPA certification as required by 40 CFR, Part 82, Subpart F required. Electrical Journeyman license preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of HVAC controls systems, computers, and programming HVAC controls. Alerton experience preferred.
- Attend training classes as assigned.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and refrigeration equipment.
- Operating knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, trade standards, systems, and controls.
- Ability to operate various hand and power tools.
- Valid Colorado driver's license required at time of hire.
- Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
- Strong verbal & written communication skills, ability to explain complex HVAC issues.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 260 Days - 8 hours/day
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt Classified
