We are expanding our team for our state-of-the-art 6000 sq ft facility in Glassell Park. We are the only privately-owned facility in Los Angeles and offer 7-day a-week critical care & emergency services as well as the following specialties:
- Internal medicine
- Surgery
- Neurology and Neurosurgery
- Cardiology
- Rehabilitation and Integrative Medicine
- Dentistry and Oral Surgery
- Anesthesiology
Our world-class specialists and ER veterinarians are partners with a strong team of Registered Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, Doctor's Assistants, Managers and Client Service Coordinators.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Department team. As an integral part of our surgical team, you will play a crucial role in assisting with surgical procedures, providing compassionate care to our patients, and ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical services.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary surgeons during surgical procedures, including preparation, monitoring, and post-operative care.
- Prepare surgical suites, equipment, and supplies, ensuring proper sterilization and organization.
- Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical process.
- Perform surgical instrument sterilization and maintenance, following established protocols and guidelines.
- Provide compassionate care and support to patients and their owners before, during, and after surgical procedures.
- Maintain accurate surgical records and documentation, including patient charts, anesthesia logs, and surgical supply inventory.
Qualifications:
- Registered Veterinary Technican (RVT) or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) is preferred, but not required. We will help support your professional development if you wish to become licensed.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a veterinary technician, with specific experience in surgical assistance.
- Proficiency in surgical instrument sterilization and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of anesthesia protocols and monitoring techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative surgical team.
- Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards animals and their owners.
- Be available for on-call duties to assist with emergency surgical procedures
