JOB TITLE: Awaken Kids Administrative Assistant
TIME EXPECTATION: Part Time
POSITION SUMMARY
Awaken Las Vegas is a Bible teaching church actively engaged in regular outreach ministries, special events, missions, and crusades along with small group studies, worship services, and the Christian Academy. This part-time Administrative Assistant role is a vital part of the daily operations of the Awaken Kids department and must be able to adapt to as well as work effectively with a variety of situations. The Awaken Kids Administrative Assistant must have the ability to creatively communicate existing Ministry and Church Wide programs to engage the target audience.

The Awaken Kids Administrative Assistant is patient, self-starting, team oriented, outgoing, organized, and has a heart for people, particularly children. The Awaken Kids Administrative Assistant should be energetic, intelligent, proactive, and possess the ability to submit to spiritual leadership, focus on others, as well as respecting confidentiality while working well with others and independently. The person in this position must possess the ability to be extremely flexible in an environment that is very active and subject to many last-minute changes while maintaining a positive outlook and spirit of teamwork even in the midst of time sensitive projects.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- GENERAL
- Disciple and equip the congregants of Awaken LV to do the work of the ministry.
- Assist in the overseeing, operations, and assisting of the day-to-day activities and all programs pertaining to Awaken Kids department.
- Attending a yearly Children Ministry Training workshop to better understand the spiritual and developmental needs of children.
- Work with Awaken Kids Director in administrating all short-term long-term goals involved in Children Ministries.
- Assist in recruiting and maintaining volunteer staff. This includes encouraging and praying for the needs of volunteers as well as for the children we serve.
- Assist in planning and recruitment of volunteers for special events.
- Copy any materials needed for Awaken Kids Ministry programs and ensure all curriculum is prepared and given to volunteers in advance.
- Oversee weekly services. Lead volunteer overseers who will be instructed to go to the Administrative Assistant to correct any challenges that may occur before, during, and after each service.
- Delegate responsibilities to volunteers as necessary whenever The Awaken Kids Director is occupied with other duties.
- Assist in the overseeing and maintaining inventory, organization, and cleaning of all areas. Organize and restock resource room supplies weekly.
- Assist in all administrational aspects of preparing for future volunteer and staff training classes.
- Set a positive example as an ALV staff member inside and outside of the work area.
- Assist in all other areas as directed by Leadership.
- Other job duties as assigned.
- MINISTERIAL
- Must be a born again Christian and living a life that demonstrates a commitment to the Word of God and committed to serving and supporting the vision and mission of Awaken Las Vegas.
- Must regularly attend and participate in a weekly service at Awaken Las Vegas.
- Exemplify the love of Christ, showing mutual respect, dignity, and integrity by setting a positive example at all times.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- EXPERIENCE
- 2 years minimum of demonstrated professional work experience in Communications, Marketing, or related field. Church Ministry experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in managing people and projects with high-quality relational outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to listen, discern, and facilitate discussions, “see the big picture”, and build consensus.
- Demonstrated creative, organizational, multi-tasking, detail-oriented, accuracy, follow-through, and project management skills.
- EDUCATION
- High School Diploma Required. Bachelor’s degree in communications or business administration preferred.
- PASSPORT/LICENSE
- Possess a valid U. S. Passport or obtain within 90 days of hire.
- NV Driver’s License
CORE COMPETENCY
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization as well as work collaboratively with leadership and staff.
- General computer knowledge is a must. Should be proficient with the Mac OS Platform, Canva, Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, Adobe Creative Suite, Peripherals, and learn check-in software and Ministry Platform.
- Working knowledge and technical skill in the areas of creative arts, music, graphics, or an affiliated creative team position. Must be able to demonstrate experience in all of these areas.
- Ability to serve with and provide training to entry level volunteers with the goal of proficiency in week-to-week duties.
General Hours: 28 hours over 5 days weekly, some holidays, and all weekends. Days and times will vary in relation to job duties assignments.
