This is a part-time position for 15 hours per week starting in late August.

Summary
The Maddux School Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing OT services, staff training, consultation and collaborative coaching regarding occupational therapy for neurodiverse students primarily in the areas of fine motor skills, gross motor skills, self-help skills, executive function skills, self-regulation and sensory needs. Frequent collaboration with teachers, educational staff, speech language pathologist, and social learning coordinator to provide direct support as well as consultation to teachers in small, structured classes with specialized social and language supports for young children in pre-kindergarten through second grade.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in the field of Occupational Therapy
- Maryland State licensure in Occupational Therapy
- School based early childhood/elementary educational experience
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability and commitment to collaborate with classroom team
- Cooperative participation within an interdisciplinary team
- Strong oral and written communication skills with colleagues and parents
- Experience using evidence-based practice to make decisions
- Support of program mission and philosophy
- Working knowledge of evidence-based practices related to self-regulation, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, and activities of daily living
- Computer skills related to common office tasks such as email, conducting internet searches, and using MSOffice (e.g., MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint)
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead OT groups in the classroom
- Contribute to curriculum development for social learning groups
- Provide individual and small group instruction as appropriate
- Ensure appropriate systems are in place to monitor student progress
- Communicate with parents/guardians, as needed
- Report biannually on student progress through formalized Progress Reports, or more frequently as needed
- Provide consultation to classroom teachers and parents
- Communicate with outside OT providers
- Hold confidential all knowledge of students and their families
