Integral is building technologies to treat neurological and psychiatric disorders.
Our first device is a miniaturized, implanted, deep-brain interface for severely affected patients. It will have unprecedented capabilities for recording and modulating neural activity and for monitoring patients’ symptoms.
This device will dramatically advance our ability to treat brain disorders and to understand their biological causes. We will use this unique discovery platform to develop an expanding range of more effective treatments that will ultimately be accessible to everyone.
You'll be working with:
Eyal, Head of Engineering: Electrical engineering and R&D leader in medtech, biotech, and robotics for 15-years across industry and academia
Flip, CSO: UCSF Prof. Emeritus and Neuralink cofounder; neuroscientist and neural engineer
Ian, Head of Hardware: Mechanical engineer, implant architect, and technical leader for 20-years; has seen 4 large medical device programs from concept to clinic
Milan, CEO: Neurotech venture builder formerly at Convergent Research; previously AI researcher and software engineer
We prioritize ambitious engineering, speed, and patients' needs.
You’ll be responsible for solving mission-critical systems engineering challenges across our technical focus areas. Key challenges in our first generation product include extreme miniaturization of electronics and hermetic packaging, wireless power transfer and communications, and novel feedthrough, connector, lead, and electrode designs.
As one of our first team members, you’ll get to play a critical role in defining our engineering strategy and culture.
More specifically, you will:
Prototype and test key components of our implant and associated surgical tools and off-body hardware
Iterate with EEs, MEs, neuroscientists, compliance experts, and surgeons to define product specs
Help build out our lab
Translate requirements between product and engineering teams
Establish and manage relationships with vendors, partners, and consultants
Achieve the highest standards of reliability, safety, and supply chain resilience
We work full-time, in-person in South San Francisco.
You:
Are a swiss army knife, with skills across EE, ME, SWE, test engineering, industrial design, and new product introduction
Like getting your hands dirty and mastering new skills: you drive CAD, build fixtures, operate 3D printers, use hand tools, etc.
Have a deep understanding of fundamental EE and ME principles
Move quickly
(Bonus) Have worked in a heavily regulated industry
Neurotechnology experience is not necessary.
