WeeSchool/PreSchool/PreK Teacher
At Kiwi's Clubhouse we believe that children learn through play! Our teachers are flexible, responsible and enthusiastic individuals who love working with groups of children and providing the highest quality of care.
What you’ll be doing:
- Create an effective learning environment!
- Listen to what the children say and expand upon their language, building their vocabulary and background knowledge
- Plan activities that have purpose and that challenge children
- Establish and maintain order in a classroom in a manner that permits the children to learn how to participate in and enjoy learning
- Arrange the classroom in a way that enhances the way children work and how they spend their time
- Develop the children’s speaking and listening skills by asking open-ended questions that invite children to expand upon their answers
- Teach letter names, sounds, capital and lower cases
- Teach numbers and counting, sort and classify objects
- Teach children to recognize, name and draw different shapes and combine shapes to make new and bigger shapes
- Arrange groups of objects according to size – from largest to smallest
- Teach them to copy patterns and predict what comes next
- Make comparisons between objects (taller than, smaller than, etc..) and match objects that are alike
- Check each child’s progress by observing children daily. Watch as they play with each other, respond to your directions, participate in activities and use language to communicate
- Regularly assess their progress so that instruction meets their needs
- Talk with parents and caregivers. Ask them what they have observed at home. Tell them about children’s strengths. Let them know about any concerns you may have
- Communicate effectively with the parents and caregivers of my students, send home newsletters, notes or emails to inform them of what their children are learning in the classroom and schedule regular meetings to let them know how their children are progressing - both in areas of strengths and needs of more support
