Our client, a leading food manufacturer in Salt Lake City, UT, is seeking a dedicated Temporary Product Developer to lead Product Development (PD) initiatives in line with their business strategy. This role is essential for creating innovative snack, baked goods, and nutrition bar products, requiring strong technical expertise, leadership, and project management skills to drive successful product commercialization and revenue growth.
Job Title: Temporary Product Developer
Department: Research and Development
Pay Range: $32-$40 per hour
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Days/Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday (2-month temporary project)
What’s the job:
- Identify and evaluate food trends to support business vision and customer strategy.
- Develop new and innovative fresh and frozen foods for CPG and Convenience channels.
- Lead commercialization projects, including full-scale plant trials and pre-trial meetings.
- Proactively interact with customers, prospects, and colleagues to keep projects on track.
- Manage multiple projects and activities within the R&D Department to achieve department objectives.
What’s needed:
- Expertise in food technology, bakery applications, ingredient functionality, and formulation.
- Experience in autonomous R&D project management.
- Skills in building customer confidence and providing follow-through.
- Leadership in development functions and strategic planning.
- Ability to create and deliver professional presentations.
- Supervision and leadership in customer-related R&D requirements.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, formula database, Genesis, raw material costing, and inventory management.
- B.S. in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years in food product development/production.
- 5-7 years in R&D or a related environment.
- Proven track record in presenting and networking in product development.

Work Environment:
