We are a leading plastic surgery and dermatology practice, offering a wide range of surgical and non-surgical procedures to enhance the appearance and health of our patients. We are looking for a medical assistant who can perform both front office and back office duties, and provide exceptional customer service and clinical support.
As a medical assistant, you will be responsible for:
- Greeting and checking in patients with a friendly and professional attitude
- Interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, and recording information in patient charts using an iPad
- Preparing and sterilizing exam rooms and instruments and ensuring compliance with infection control standards
- Assisting the physician with procedures such as suture removal, specimen collection, wound care, injections, etc.
- Photographing patients before and after treatments using standardized protocols
- Managing patient flow and ensuring timely and efficient service
- Ordering and reminding patients of prescriptions and refills as needed
- Keeping track of and entering the results of imaging studies, lab tests, and pathology reports in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Working with insurance companies and coding specialists to verify coverage, obtain authorizations, and process claims
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Previous experience as a medical assistant or in a similar role, preferably in a plastic surgery or dermatology setting
- Knowledge of plastic surgery and dermatology medical terminology, procedures, and diagnosis
- Proficiency in EMR systems, preferably Modernizing Medicine
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- A high school diploma or equivalent. A certification or degree in medical assisting is preferred
