Seneca Health & Rehabilitation Center is seeking an experienced, motivated and compassionate Staffing Developer / Clinical Educator, (Licensed Nurse) with a great attitude to provide recruiting, hiring, and staff education support. Plan, direct and implement facility orientation, job skills training, in-service education and a Certification Training Program (if applicable) for the nursing staff in accordance with regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must be a qualified licensed RN in good standing and currently licensed by the State in which employed.
· Must have one year full-time experience as a licensed nurse providing direct resident care in a long term healthcare facility in addition to one year of experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in the field of nursing is desired.
· Demonstrates understanding of state and federal rules and regulations that govern the practices of the facility.
· Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and to work cooperatively with other employees.
· Basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn facility software.
· Able to maintain regular attendance.
· Must meet all local health regulations, and pass post-employment physical exam if required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal background investigation, and reference inquiry.
· Must be capable of performing the Essential Job Functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
A. MANAGE TRAINING
Duties: Work cooperatively with the Administrator, Director of Nursing, and facility staff in assessing training needs. Initiate programs to meet these needs and regulatory requirements.
Maintains staff development policies, including student program initiatives, completion and pass/fail requirements. Completes post job offer screenings for criminal history, drug free workplace, license and/or certification verification, history and physical including PPD.
B. ORIENTATION & JOB SKILLS
Duties: Implement orientation program for all new employees beginning the first day of employment.
Ensure all employment educational requirements and documentation are completed as a part of orientation.
Complete an Orientation Skills Return Demonstration checklist on all new NA’s and Certified Nursing Assistants indicating they are competent to perform all resident care tasks as assigned. Provide skill training to new staff in any deficient area noted above before allowing the employee to perform the task with a resident.
Coordinate the lesson plans for all in-service education requirements for facility employees. Maintain a current schedule of all clinical and in-service training conducted; recording participants, date of training and subject details of the training.
C. IN-SERVICE EDUCATION
Duties: Implement all staff in-services addressing mandatory topics on an annual basis.
Evaluate in-service training to develop programs that enhance resident care skills.
Review evaluations for Nurses and CNA’s. Plan and implement a training interventions to address deficient areas identified.
D. NURSE ASSISTANT CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
Duties: Perform criminal background check for each student, or applicant prior to hire. Develop programs and lesson plan, instruct Certified Nursing Assistant Training, if applicable. Ensure all non-certified direct care employees complete Certification within four (4) months of their date of hire.
E. OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Duties: Coordinate the interviewing process as directed. Participate in the hiring process as directed.
F. COMMUNITY RELATIONS
Duties: Develop positive relationship with government regulators, families, and the community at large on behalf of the facility.
G. SAFETY COMMITTEE
Duties: Participate as a member of Safety Committee to identify training needs of staff.
H. SAFETY
Duties: Support and follow all safety and infection control practices. Provide training and education of staff on the proper use of mechanical lifting devices.
Ensure equipment and work areas are clean, safe and orderly, and any hazardous conditions are addressed; ensure universal precautions and infection control, fire, safety and sanitation practices and procedures are followed.
I. RESIDENTS’ RIGHTS AND POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS
Duties: Understand; comply with and promote all rules and regulations regarding residents’ rights; promote positive relationships with residents, visitors, and regulators, to include presenting a professional appearance.
