As a certified health department, the Douglas County Health Department is responsible for several programs as well as many other public health services. Programs are grouped into divisions relating to either nursing, environmental health or health education. All programs have an educational component. The goal of this department is to increase the awareness and number of persons reached in this educational process.
In 2008, The Douglas County Health Department opened the doors to its own Dental and Health Clinic. The clinic and the addition of on-site lab processing capabilities has allowed the health department to better serve the community.

Job Summary:
The Billing Specialist is responsible for overseeing the billing process for customers or patients.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Patient billing management (insurance and cash paying clients).
· Invoice generation and tracking.
· Payment processing.
· Running end-to-end payment cycles.
· Performing regular reconciliations.
· Analyzing or monitoring cash collections.
· Maintaining organized financial records.
· Looking for inconsistencies or errors.
· NexGen learning management (Super User training completed within one year)
· Back-up front desk as needed.
· Outreach projects.
· Reporting and metrics meetings.
· Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
· Regular predictable attendance is required.
· Extreme attention to detail.
· Must be able to meet performance goals and deadlines.
· Must be able to accurately process documentation and prepare reports as necessary.
· Proficient with MS Suite and other software.
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Previous experience preferred.
