DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The successful applicant will undertake assignments such as receiving vendor invoices, maintaining departmental invoice log and month end reports for accounts payable. The work entails frequent interactions with City personnel, external vendors via emails, telephone and letters, as well as at meetings. From time to time, applicant may be required to work overtime and during weekends. Additional core duties include, but are not limited to:

Reviewing, processing and compiling various accounting transactions, i.e., payment vouchers, journal entries, chargebacks, etc.

Receives, logs and distributes departmental mail.

Assists with general accounting or other clerical responsibilities as assigned.

Verifies information and the matching of payments to purchase order items.

Summarizes and prepares internal financial reports.

Assists the Division Manager and other employees with accounts payable functions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort in a normal office environment.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Requires a high school diploma or a GED. Knowledge of personal computers is preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
One year of clerical accounting experience is required.

Preference will be given to individual who is a critical thinker, strong in analytical work, strong in excel skills, highly adaptable, calm under pressure, cooperative, team-player and possesses the initiative and independence to identify solutions. The ability to work fast, with minimal supervision, and produce required results timely is essential.
**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
