Job Title: Assistant Project Manager

Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Assistant Project Manager (APM) to help plan and supervise a wide range of construction projects from start to finish. You will assist the project team to organize and oversee construction procedures and ensure they are completed in a timely and efficient manner. An excellent Assistant Project Manager must be willing to learn all construction methodologies and procedures and be able to help coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and great organizational skills. The goal will be to ensure all projects are delivered on time according to requirements and without exceeding budget.
Responsibilities:
- APMs will report to Project Managers (PMs) on several projects concurrently and must balance their workload to meet the needs of the various projects assigned to the APM.
- Collaborate with other project stakeholders such as engineers, architects, and consultants.
- Assist with the negotiation of contracts with vendors and subcontractors to reach profitable agreements.
- Help obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities.
- Help to determine needed resources (manpower, equipment, and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations.
- Help to plan construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met.
- Help to hire contractors and other staff and allocate responsibilities.
- Help to supervise the work of laborers, mechanics etc. and give them guidance when needed.
- Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports.
- Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues.
- Prepare agendas for project meetings in Procore.
- Record meeting minutes and upload them to Procore.
- Assist with the bidding and procurement process by determining what material purchases are needed for items such as doors & hardware, light fixtures, bathroom accessories, toilet partitions, appliances, tile & carpet, etc.
- Prepare leveling sheets and ensure that there is sufficient bid coverage of competent contractors.
- Assist the Project Manager in moving the project forward in a timely manner.
- Assist the Project Manager in preparing, reviewing, and approving requisitions for payment.
Skills:
- Experience in construction project management
- Basic understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles
- Familiarity with quality, health, and safety standards
- Good working knowledge of MS Office suite of products
- Familiarity with construction/ project management software, specifically Procore and MS Project
- Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- A team player
- BSc/BA in engineering, building science or relevant field.
- PMP or equivalent certification will be an advantage.
