Description:
What we are looking for:
Holmen Cheese has an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join our leadership team as a Plant Manager. This is a great role for the experienced supervisor looking to take their career to the next level or an existing Plant Manager looking to join a newer growing business. Ideally, the candidate will have 7+ years of leadership experience in a food manufacturing facility, preferably in the process cheese or dairy industry.
This candidate will have two direct reports, a Production Manager and a Sanitation Manager, while also providing guidance and coaching to six other salaried supervisors and 80+ hourly workers. It will be pivotal that this candidate have a close, collaborative relationship with the other departments such as the warehouse, maintenance, quality, R&D, and production planning to ensure continuity throughout the organization. One of the most important traits a successful plant manager will have is their ability to communicate with all levels of the organization. The Plant Manager will lead their team to accomplish the goals of the organization through direction, coaching, mentoring, and when needed, step in to take a hands-on approach to get things done.
We are looking for a candidate with a LEAN background and experience, but who understands how to balance the application of the principles with a production effort which needs flexibility and agility. This individual will need to be able to look in the future and develop strategic initiatives but not lose focus on the now.
This role works very closely with their supervisor, the COO, and will need to be open to and take direction, coaching, and feedback for personal and organizational success. The office for the Plant Manager is located in the center of the facility so this is a very visible role and with our open-door policy they will need to have great people skills along with trustworthiness and credibility to be an effective leader within the organization.
