Summary
The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC) is a not-for-profit corporation that serves as the real estate developer and property manager of the Yard on behalf of its owner, the City of New York. Areas of Responsibility

Constructs, replaces, repairs, maintains structural woodwork from drawings, blueprints or oral instructions

Builds, repairs, installs floors, walls, partitions, doors, framework, trim, ceilings, etc.; applies plaster to walls or ceilings

Installs glass in windows, doors or partitions; replaces or installs ceiling or floor tiles or sheet wall coverings. Builds or assembles scaffolds or other wooden and metal equipment

Installs blinds, shades, drapes, rugs, carpets or other interior decorating equipment

Routine painting of both interior and exterior spaces

Lays bricks or cinder blocks, may pour cement, gravel or asphalt, etc.

Instructs and oversees Mechanics B and Helpers work

Record and report defects or deficiencies to immediate supervisor

Must be able to communicate effectively to relay information and carry out instructions.

May install roofing materials

May lay cork, rubber or linoleum tile or foundation material such as felt

Uses hand and power tools and other measuring instruments

Performs other duties pertinent to the maintenance of the Complex, as assigned
Qualifications

Vocational or trade school highly desirable
-
Able to work from blueprints
-
Familiarity with power tools

At least 5 years of experience in related occupation

NYS Drivers License required
