**Temporary position lasting until December 31, 2024**
Basic Function:
Procure goods and services as requested. Perform other assignments and complete projects for purchasing department as requested.
Essential Duties:
- Source and evaluate vendors, negotiate competitive pricing, ensure conformance to specifications, terms and conditions of purchase agreements. Ensure detailed records are maintained.
- Prepare and issue instructions to vendors and freight consolidators concerning shipment of materials, ensuring efficient and timely delivery. Expedite materials as needed.
- Follow up on existing purchase orders to evaluate vendor performance
- Purchase all materials required for marine vessels docked in local area
- Provide efficient, accurate and customer service oriented responses to inquiries regarding status of orders and delivery schedules
- Process and maintain records and expedite repair arrangements and expedient return of Alaska facility repair and maintenance materials
Secondary Duties:
- Provide ongoing vendor performance feedback to Purchasing Supervisor
- Maintain all records pertaining to purchasing and transportation activities. Perform data entry related to purchase order.
- May require travel to Alaska on short notice for one to several weeks at a time
- Perform other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required or specialized training
- Minimum 2 – 4 years experience in purchasing/buying related positions involving sourcing vendors, selecting and pricing
- Ability to negotiate to get desired results while using tact
- Must possess good communication and organizational skills as well as excellent customer service skills
- Ability to interact in a positive manner with diverse cultures in a team environment
This is a salaried non-exempt position with a salary of $59,605-$70,000 per year.
