Shifts available: Part Time with Weekends availability.
Primary Behavior Counselors meet with clients to provide advice and support in a variety of areas, such as relationships, stress management, drug abuse, mental illness, or grief.
Responsibilities:
- Works cooperatively with other Interdisciplinary staff under the supervision of the Program Director. Performs job duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
- Provide support to clients by assessing and understanding the need for counseling, establishing rapport, offering and explaining options for treatment, helping to resolve problems and suggesting management strategies to alleviate stress.
- Assess client’s presenting problems and make diagnoses using standardized psychological tests, personality profiling and clinical methods.
- Conduct/Initiate therapy groups and provide one-on-one counseling to clients
- Maintain case notes, record client progress and response to treatment.
- Report on activity and progress to management staff in the areas of welfare counseling, human resource development, employee assistance programs and such.
- Implements individualized behavioral programs and provides feedback to supervisory staff on their effectiveness.
- Attends and actively participates in meetings pertaining to resident treatment plans.
- Participates in Professional Assault Response Training ® principles when necessary, i.e., verbal de-escalation, active listening, calm talk, etc.
Qualifications:
- Pursue a career in mental health, some background education in psychology, sociology, social work, counseling, nursing, etc
- Preferred: Experience working with mental health patients and have passion and strong work ethics to care for patients.
