POSITION OBJECTIVE: The primary responsibility for this position is to operate a single product packaging machine at maximum capacity and efficiency while maintaining quality mandates and standards. Machine Operator II’s can also operate positions on a multi-person machine. Machine Operator II’s also perform basic machine and equipment maintenance including cleaning and sanitation in addition to basic troubleshooting. Machine Operator II’s are trained to operate a minimum of four (4) different machine and/or lines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Must be trained to operate a minimum of four (4) different machines and/or lines in the Starwest facility.
· Must meet minimum unit quantities (MUQ’s) for each shift as defined by the Production Manager.
· Must accurately fill out all required paperwork for each job and work order.
· Must know how to set up a job independently from beginning to end and know how to clean the machines thoroughly at the end of each job with no supervision.
· Must know the process of returning unused product and packaging left over after a job.
· Must know the safety procedures of each machine used and the purpose of the guards that the machine holds in place. Must also wear appropriate P.P.E.
· Must understand “best by” dates and lot codes.
· Must be familiar with the labeling process and requirements, making sure the appropriate label is always used. Must know the different types and styles of labels and which is appropriate for each work order.
· Perform all work following all department output requirements and quality standards.
· Must follow the master sanitation schedules and properly fill out all logs.
· Must be able to perform the proper sanitation and clean-up processes, including the disassembly of the machinery, cleaning, and reassembly of the machinery.
· Conduct quality checks on the functionality of parts/components before and after every production run.
- Make sure the appropriate tag is used in accordance to the job order. Must know the difference between the different types of tags and which is appropriate for each step of a job.
- Must perform all required housekeeping on a daily basis.
- Ensure all required paperwork is completed, accurate, organized, and properly routed.
· Must be proficient in using the warehouse management systems.
- Must be able to operate a manual pallet jack to transport material from location to location.
· Must be able to lift fill full bags/drums of raw materials into machine hoppers.
· Must follow all Company Policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), while also maintaining all GMP, FDA and OSHA standards.
· Other general warehouse-related and food production facility duties as assigned by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
· Satisfactory experience as a Machine Operator I at Starwest
· Must be a trained and certified forklift operator
· Must be able to read, write, and speak English
· Must be able to count; addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
· Must be able to work collaboratively in a team and work independently without direct supervision.
ENVIRONMENT
· 100% of the time performing job duties is spent indoors, within a standard warehouse and production facility environment.
· While performing job duties, the employee works near or around material handling equipment (e.g. forklifts, pallet-jacks), moving mechanical parts, belt-driven equipment, and psi-enabled equipment, and is occasionally exposed to electric shock.
· Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may require hearing protection
· The temperature of the work environment can range from 50 to 100 degrees.
· Occasional use of a respirator is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· Continuously (80-100%): standing, walking, hand use, finger dexterity.
· Frequently (50-80%): climbing stairs, crouching, kneeling.
· Often (20-50%): lift, carry, push, and pull 55 lbs.
· Rarely (less than 5%): confined sitting.
MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT
· Continuously (80-100%): packaging machines and equipment that are belt-driven or psi-enabled
· Often (20-50%): forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks
· Sometimes (5-20%): computers, printers
TRAVEL
· This position may occasionally be asked to work at another Starwest facility within a 20-mile radius; in these cases, Starwest will reimburse employees for mileage using their personal vehicle per the policy outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Pay: $23.50 - $28.20 per hour
