Here is what you will need:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in data engineering, preferably with experience in cloud environments (Azure preferred).
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python/R, and experience with ETL tools like Azure Data Factory.
- Demonstrated experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or Synapse in a production environment.
- Familiarity with data warehousing principles and data modeling techniques.
Experience working in Agile development environments.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the healthcare industry, with knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
Familiarity with machine learning and AI concepts.
Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
A Day in the Life of a Senior Data Engineer:
- Provide services and support for the following areas:
- Design and implement scalable data pipelines (ETL) from diverse sources into our data warehouse/lake, utilizing best practices in data integration and workflow orchestration.
- Collaborate with the Clinical Apps and Integrations to define and evolve Solis's overall data architecture, ensuring it aligns with business requirements, performance goals, and scalability needs.
- Develop and maintain data models, schemas, and data dictionaries, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and clear understanding of data definitions across Solis.
- Optimize data storage solutions (e.g., data lake, data warehouse, hybrid) for efficient querying, analysis, and reporting.
- Design and implement efficient data partitioning and indexing strategies to enhance query performance and data access speeds.
- Continuously monitor and fine-tune data pipelines for optimal performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
- Implement robust error handling and logging mechanisms to ensure data integrity and facilitate troubleshooting.
- Utilize your proficiency in SQL and Python/R (or similar scripting languages) to build robust ETL pipelines and automation scripts.
- Employ modern cloud-based technologies like Azure Data Factory and Azure Data Lake Storage to ensure secure and efficient data processing.
- Leverage experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or Synapse to optimize data warehousing and analytics workflows.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies in the data engineering space, recommending improvements where applicable.
- Implement automated data quality checks and validation routines to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Work closely with Data Stewards to resolve data quality issues and maintain data integrity.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for ETL processes and data models.
- Collaborate with Analysts to understand their data needs and deliver data in usable formats.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, explaining technical concepts in clear terms.
