The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) will perform and evaluate diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures in accordance with physician orders. The RRT will be responsible for performing procedures including but not limited; endotracheal intubation, extubations, tracheotomy tube changes, capnography monitoring. Other duties include; evaluating appropriateness of medical orders, transporting patients requiring mechanical ventilation or airway protection, assuring safe operations of devices in the MRI, and assisting with Bronchoscopy. The RRT will be responsible for the orientation and training of Certified Respiratory Therapist. The RRT will be proficient in the application of mechanical ventilator modalities, Non-Invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation (NPPV); Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) and Bi-Level Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP). The RRT must be willing to report back to work during any emergency situation, this includes if needed during inclement weather, mass casualty, internal disaster, etc. The RRT will complete other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Associates Degree (AS) in Respiratory Therapy required.
- Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Respiratory Therapy preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 6 months of clinical experience following graduation from a respiratory care program required.
- Two years post-graduate respiratory care experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- Current License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of South Carolina required.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Association for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required. (Or completed within 6 months of employment.)
- Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required. (Or completed within 6 months of employment.)

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to hear to process instructions and safety code and alarms required.
