Under the general direction of the Senior Oil and Gas Engineer (Supervisor), the Associate Oil and Gas Engineer (AOGE) will independently perform highly complex engineering work and will audit complex field inspections related to the following programs: Underground Injection Control (UIC), Idle Well, Enforcement, Pipeline and Facilities. The incumbent will assist the unit supervisor in training and reviewing the work of technical engineering staff responsible for conducting complex field inspections. This position requires extensive knowledge of general oil and gas engineering practices, skills in reviewing and analyzing geologic reports, well files, and excellent data management and communication skills.

Working Conditions
This position is located in Bakersfield and is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. Employees must reside in California and be able to satisfactorily perform their essential work functions independently and remotely. The hybrid telework schedule will allow for up to three days of remote work per week depending on department needs.
Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview but must show proof of residence in California prior to being eligible for appointment.
