Job Summary:
We are a federally funded not-for-profit EarlyLearn Head Start Program that services children 3 to 4 years old and provides training and workshops for parents. We have been serving children and parents for over forty-six years. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, possess strong classroom management skills, and be committed to providing quality education in a nurturing environment.
Job Description
Under the supervision of the Education Director, the Group Teacher is responsible for supervising Teacher Assistant and maintaining classroom coverage and proper teacher-child ratios. The Teacher is responsible for planning and completing assignments in support of daily classroom activities (social, emotional, physical, cognitive development), teacher-directed activities/child-directed activities. Implement the High/Scope Curriculum in a developmentally appropriate manner. Responsible for head/face counts. Integrate all aspects of educational components (nutrition, mental health, health), preparing the classroom for opening and closing, keeping the classroom environment clean and safe, providing activities for children with disabilities, and promoting language development through frequent interactions between adults and children. Completes all required paperwork promptly( lesson plans, daily health checks, evaluations, assessments, CORS, Form 10’s, IPR, Brigance Screenings, Anecdotal, referrals for children suspected to have a disability), etc. Works with children with disabilities and adapts lessons and materials to meet needs. The Teacher is responsible for keeping inventory and encouraging parent participation in the program/classroom. Participates in family-style meal service and attends In-Service Day Trainings, workshops, staff, and center meetings. Responsible for creating a culturally diverse and sensitive environment that promotes the acceptance of all ethnicities, cultures, and backgrounds. Abide by New York State Department of Health Codes, Administration for Children’s Services, and Head Start Performance Standards.
Minimum Requirements
MS/BS Degree in Early Childhood and Certified in Early Childhood
One year of classroom teaching experience
Proficient in basic computer skills and ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to work with the Education Director and take charge in the absence of the Education Director
