Project Description: Support of Capital Projects in the Systems Business Unit
Professional / Technical Title: Associate Project Manager Level III
Duration of Service Required: 52 Weeks
Normal Work Week: Monday to Friday (Saturday & Sunday if Required)
No. of Paid Hours Per Week: 40 Hours/Week
Hours of Work: 8 AM- 5PM (day/Evenings: 9 pm-6 am; max OT 16% if required)
- 70% Technical and 30% Administrative
- 60% Field and 40 % Office environment
- Right of Way Work is required.
NYCT Mid-Point Salary: $112,899
Work Location: 2 Broadway, New York, NY 10004 (and/or field office)
Education Qualifications Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college in an engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, business administration or public administration and two years’ experience in project management work such as planning, managing, coordinating, or expending, for engineering and/or landscape architectural projects,
or
- Four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years’ experience
or
- Four-year high school diploma or its equivalent plus any combination of college education and/or experience to make up the equivalent of six years education and experience.
One year of experience will be given for:
o 30 semester credits of college education leading to a Bachelor’s.
o A master’s degree from one of the disciplines described in #10
o A valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect
Experience Requirements:
- Experience in project management will be commensurate with level of education (see above).
- Minimum of three years’ experience having served in a supervisory capacity.
or
- two additional years as a project manager for a large and/or complex construction project.
Licensing Requirements: Electrical Engineer degree required.
Special Skills Requirements:
a. Communication and Networking knowledge.
b. Fiber Optic Cables installation and testing & use of Communications test equipment.
c. Knowledge of Microsoft Suite including excel, word and outlook.
d. Familiarity with transit operating procedures preferred.
e. Familiarity with Auto CAD and MTA design standards and guidelines preferred.
Description of Work:
In the capacity of APM III:
a. Review Construction documents.
b. Supervise and provide guidance to Contractor.
c. Resolve Construction issues related to field conditions, inter discipline conflicts, long term maintenance issues and life cycle costs.
d. Act as a facilitator between the Contractor, Designers, User Departments and Maintenance groups.
e. Resolve field conditions in an expeditious manner and provide input / suggested solutions, obtain formal approval from design engineers when necessary.
f. Monitor budgets, TA services usage and schedules, identify any potential shortfalls and take necessary action to prevent negative impact on critical path.
g. Identify needs for General orders and other MTA – C&D services and make sure that they are provided to contractor on timely basis.
h. Initiate General Orders, operate under flagging / General Orders and be able to properly close General Orders.
i. Inspect work in progress, identify and inform contractor of deficiencies or concerns in a timely manner.
j. Prepare daily reports, formal punch-lists, informal / running punch-lists, coordinate and confirm punch-list completion, conduct joint pre-and final inspections with Contractors and MTA trade groups.
k. Develop estimates, process, and manage scope and change orders.
Other Work Requirements:
a. One day NYCT Track Safety Training Course Required prior to participate in work on or near the wayside; must maintain this qualification for the duration of this assignment.
b. Have safety work boots meeting specification prior to work on or near wayside at no cost to the MTA.
c. Have 30-hour OSHA (Construction) prior to work on or near wayside.
