The Instructional Assistant will be responsible for assisting instructors in the delivery of CALV’s hospitality-based vocational training programs. The Instructional Assistant will assist instructors with in-classroom activities; provide basic technical support, where needed; assist in the onsite operations of the Westside Bistro restaurant and coffee shop; provide student assistance; and perform other administrative duties, as needed.
This position will work in collaboration with the Instructors, Curriculum Team, Student Services, and other professionals to best support students’ learning experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the academic learning team to actively support teaching and learning, ensuring that training programs are best preparing students for careers in the hospitality industry.
- Assist instructors in providing student support in the Westside Bistro and Coffee Shop, while providing excellent customer service to guests.
- Assist instructors and staff in providing student support at special events, both onsite and offsite.
- Some nights and weekends may be required.
- Assist instructors with administrative duties.
- Perform other tasks reasonably aligned with the assigned job functions.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of experience working in the hospitality industry, specifically as a Food Server and Barista (Preferred).
- Two years of experience working in adult education and/or vocational training (Preferred).
- Bilingual (Spanish) or ESL certified (Preferred).
- Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suites, Canvas, and point-of-sale.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:
- Current SNHD Food Handler Safety Training Card (required)
- ServSafe Food Manager Certification (preferred)
