Job Summary:
As a Facilities Maintenance Technician at KinderCare Learning Companies, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and comfort of our centers, making them inviting spaces for the families and children we serve. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues, grow professionally, and positively impact the communities we serve.
Core Responsibilities:
Preventative Maintenance:
- Schedule and conduct regular preventative maintenance at assigned centers. This includes work on Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, electrical systems, plumbing, mechanical systems, lighting, and general carpentry. You will also handle minor plumbing work.
Safety Inspections:
- Conduct safety and security inspections of playgrounds and property.
Renovations and New Construction:
- Assist with inspections of renovations and new construction projects and identify potential capital replacement projects.
Materials and Work Orders:
- Order materials, update or create work orders, and provide status updates using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Engagement:
- Actively engage with center staff to promote best practices in facility maintenance. Foster a culture of collaboration and communication between the facilities team and center staff to enhance the overall learning environment.
- Engage with local vendors to complete more complex repairs and monitor vendor performance.
Technology Proficiency:
- Proficiency in operating work-related electronic equipment; (e.g., iPhone, iPad, laptop if provided). Including computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in managing and completing ongoing lists of maintenance projects and follow-through on commitments.
- Maintenance experience in a multi-unit environment.
- Strong time management, professional communication, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of materials, methods, terminology, equipment, and tools used in the maintenance, repair, and construction of building structures and systems.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment and the ability to diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions, as well as a working knowledge of basic machinery preventive maintenance and repair.
- Ability to read, understand, and apply facility maintenance manuals, technical bulletins, construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Ability to perform well under a high volume of maintenance requests.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently and collaboratively.
- Qualified to operate a company vehicle based on a motor vehicle record check and company policy.
