Summary: The primary role of this position is to create an engaging learning environment and provide a quality learning experience where students can build their capacity academically and through employability skills. Building strong, positive relationships with all students on a daily basis is not only an expectation, but a core value of our district. The teacher role sets and communicates high and attainable expectations for all students regardless of ability or skill. With the value of knowing students can learn at high levels, the teacher role facilitates learning, stays current on better practices, and implements target based grading and teaching/learning strategies within the classroom. The teacher uses formative assessments to inform classroom instruction and adjusts based on student needs. The teacher is a leader who models continuous improvement, lifelong learning, and strives to go above and beyond to promote student growth and achievement.
Teachers agree to serve the Wautoma Area School District for the number of days in the official school calendar and to perform duties as assigned by school and district administration. The teacher role is a certified position, in which time out of the instructional day may need to be given for curriculum-development, professional learning, and support school/district activities.

REQUIRED Qualifications include the following but are not limited to:
- Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated instruction that aligns with curriculum standards and meets the diverse needs of students.
- Collaboratively engage, communicate, and implement plans and measures to respond to student and teacher data to improve outcomes.
- Assume responsibility for the safety and welfare of students.
- Attend all meetings called by administration unless excused in advance.
- Foster a positive and engaging classroom culture that promotes respect, collaboration, and passion for learning.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology, and resources to actively engage students in the learning process.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide timely feedback to students and parents.
- Establish and reinforce behavioral and academic expectations and proficiency levels in a consistent manner.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, support staff, and other stakeholders to support student growth and achievement.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide student progress updates, solicit feedback, and address questions and/or concerns.
- Participate in professional development and stakeholder outreach expectations as outlined in WASD Employee Handbook and individual contract.
- Engage in instructional coaching cycles as required by the district.
- Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating professionalism and integrity in the classroom and work environment.
- Adhere to the district better/best practices and district expectations related to teaching and learning.
- Adhere to all district policies and procedures as outlined in district policy and WASD Employee Handbook.
- Carry out duties and responsibilities as assigned by building or district administration.
- Must hold or be able to obtain a valid teaching certification or license issued by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

- Experience in target-based grading is preferred, but not required.

- Physical examination/TB Assessment as covered by Wisconsin Statute 118.25.

Performance of this position will be evaluated annually based on the District Professional Growth Plan and Evaluation Tool and/or as prescribed by Wisconsin Statutes by the appropriate building administration and/or District Administrator or his/her designee.
