About Tessa International School
Tessa International School (Tessa) is a premier international, bilingual school which opened in December 2017, in Hoboken, New Jersey (close to Manhattan). In 2023-2024 we offer classes up to grade 3. We will grow up to grade 5 in subsequent years. We are 80/20 immersion through Kindergarten, and then 50/50. We take children from beginners through fluent in the target language. We offer a world-class education based on the most successful international models and have three target language immersion programs: French, Mandarin and Spanish. About the Position
Tessa International School is recruiting a Math / STEM Teacher for the School Year 2024-2025. Our fast growing bilingual school located by New York City currently serves nursery to grade 3 and will expand up to grade 5 in the coming few years. The mission of the Math / STEM Teacher is to guarantee that Tessa International School’s students develop taste and learn how to use Math and Science concepts early. They are a key player in implementing the School’s vision for academic excellence. They are responsible for developing and teaching the Tessa International School Math and STEM curriculum, and manage the Maker’s Space. The Math / STEM Teacher works with all school constituents.
This position is a great opportunity to be instrumental in the conception of a new Math / STEM curriculum and to learn about the International Baccalaureate (IB).
Responsibilities

Preparing and teaching engaging STEM classes for primary students (several hours per week for each grade)

Preparing and teaching fun, hands-on classes for early years students

Managing Science and Math primary clubs

Managing the Maker’s Space
-
Assessing student learning and providing written evidence of student learning for the student portfolios at 4 different times during the year

Working in collaboration with classroom teachers about their students and how things are going in STEM, as well as communicating about curriculum so that integration can take place

Being available, if necessary, to discuss the STEM program or student’s needs with parents

Participating in the school’s evaluation process by developing goals and self-assessing

Attending staff meetings and retreats, and to participate in the life of the school

Maintaining the classrooms in a clean, attractive and functional manner
Skills
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education
-
Teaching experience with a track record of success in engaging young students

Knowledge of Singapore Math a plus

International Baccalaureate (IB) experience a plus

Enthusiastic, innovative, and solutions-oriented personality

Passion for teaching to young learners

Strong interest in international cultural diversity
