Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join the Emerald team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and possess a strong knowledge of veterinary practices and procedures. As a practice we prioritize quality over quantity with our patient care as we believe in a high standard of medicine. We have a team of mobile board certified specialists - cardiology, ophthalmology, internal medicine, and surgery - to help with more advanced cases. While we strive for the best patient care, we also like to have a good time and do not tolerate bad behavior from clients.
Emerald Animal Hospital also supports continued learning with paid CE of up to $1500 per year, including licensing & association dues for RVTs. As well as support for higher learning opportunities as an RVT.
We are a paperless practice utilizing EzyVet and VetRadar for thorough medical record keeping; as well as IDEXX in-house & reference labs and Zoetis Imagyst.
Responsibilities:
- Our RVTs are leveraged to utilize their skill set and license, and work alongside the veterinarians to directly communicate with owners to help understand their pet's needs - Assist veterinarians in routine examinations, surgeries, and dental procedures
- Perform laboratory tests
- Administer medications and vaccines under the direction of a veterinarian
- Handle and restrain animals during procedures, using low stress techniques
- Full body and dental x-ray positioning and technique
- Maintain accurate records of patient treatments and progress
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and treatment plans
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the veterinary clinic
Experience:
The successful candidate should have experience or knowledge in the following areas:
- General knowledge of preventative medicine
- Low stress animal handling
- X-Ray operation
- Aseptic technique
- Setting up for sedated/anesthetic procedures and monitoring anesthesia with multiple vital parameters
