Position Overview: $25 million packaging products distributor in Santa Fe Springs is looking for a qualified candidate to head their accounting department. The position reports directly to the division VP (who is a CPA) and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of general accounting, financial reporting, accounts receivable, payroll review, accounts payable, budgeting and specialized reports. This role will involve managing one other person in the department.

Role and Responsibilities
· Lead and manage the general accounting, financial reporting, AP, AR, and tax functions of the organization, driving process improvement initiatives and establishing policies and procedures.
· Act as a key liaison with corporate accounting office in Illinois.
· Learn the Company’s ERP system that is specialized for the industry.
· Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit
· Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
· Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
· Minimum 3 years in private or public accounting lead role
· Understands GAAP and all aspects of GL and subsidiary ledgers and schedules
· Mastery of Excel
· Distribution experience preferred
· Excellent management and supervisory skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Excellent organizational and time management skills

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. Weekend or longer hours may be required based on business needs.
