Position Summary:
The Warehouse Team Lead position located at our Distribution Center in Rincon, Georgia is responsible for managing a team of order pickers/packers that fill customer orders and prepare for FEDEX and UPS shipment. Schedules staffing and monitors productivity of team members. Trains staff on standard order filling and shipping processes. Ensures all equipment is functioning properly and that all safety procedures are followed. Verifies that sufficient inventory is available to fill orders. Maintains daily activity and productivity reports using designated systems.
Continuous improvement of process and skill level through use of WMS and ERP systems. Communicate with all applicable departments with the goal of exceptional service to internal and external customers. Scheduling of staff, monitoring of productivity, training of staff on best practices for production and safety of warehouse associates. Overall, this role will actively seek continuous improvement on warehouse performance, employee engagement and mentoring, teamwork and always strive to operate with our company culture at the core of all we do.
Responsibilities:
- Leads in hiring and training of team members.
- Leads team in conducting daily safety checks on equipment, including conveyor equipment, Vaculex Lifting System, forklift operations, and pallet wrapper.
- Oversees the daily workflow; to include scheduling and assignments of the W&D associates.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Inspects quality and quantity of supplies and equipment delivered to the team.
- Verifies that outgoing deliveries meet company quality standards.
- Keeps team members informed about rules, regulations, policies, and objectives.
- Maintains detailed and accurate records, where necessary.
- Collaborates with the team to identify ways to improve department effectiveness; implements viable ideas.
- Resolves conflicts that arise among team members and/or other employees.
- Coordinating transportation providers to ensure prompt and proper movement of shipments.
- Responding to customer inquiries and referring clients to the proper channels.
- Reviewing BOLs and shipping documents to ensure accuracy.
- Preparing work orders, bills, and appropriate documentation
- Ensuring that the quality of all services provided meets the required Halstead standards.
- Developing processes that make the supply chain more efficient and organized.
Knowledge & Experience:
- 3 years warehousing and distribution experience.
- 1-year supervisory experience in lead or supervisory role.
- Proficient in MS Office Products, Use of ERP and WMS systems, Parcel Shipping Systems, LTL Carrier protocols and procedures.
- Ability to drive and train personnel to drive forklifts and yard trucks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to motivate team to accomplish objectives.
- Ability to solve conflicts among coworkers.
- Ability to remain organized.
- Basic understanding of records, inventories, and other routine documentation used in the warehouse.
- Thorough understanding of warehouse procedures and regulations.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
Education/Certification(s):
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; college degree in logistics, supply chain management or related is preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Work schedule is generally Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 4:00 pm EST.
- Medium level of physical activity (walking, lifting, standing) is required for this job.
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
- Frequently lift and/or move objects 10-50lbs.
- Standing for long periods of time required.
- Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.
