Children’s Academy is seeking a Director of Education. This is an ideal opportunity for a dynamic and experienced individual to join a vibrant team and support the growth of a unique school.
Reporting to the Head of School, the Director of Education is a central member of the leadership team with responsibility for leading the evaluation, selection and integration of curricula and learning materials.
He/She/They oversees teaching procedures, serves as a mentor for all instructional staff and is committed to improving teaching practices through collaboration with staff, community members, and students. He/She/They collaborates with the Head of School and administrative team to ensure students’ needs are met and represents the school professionally and enthusiastically in the community.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Directs day-to-day operations of the CA Education Department and programs
- Oversees learning needs of students in all content areas.
- Supervises all teaching staff and evaluates performance.
- Conducts formal and informal observations of teaching staff in order to assess quality of education and assistance offered to students.
- Plans and implements staff development and in-service training programs to enhance knowledge and skills based on identified areas of needed improvement.
- Implements program-level departmental policies and procedures to support educational program and curriculum.
- Represents educational program at meetings and conferences to serve as subject matter liaison for array of services and activities assigned.
- Analyzes instructor, student, and class trends to make proactive decisions about academic program operations.
- Facilitates development of program structure within classrooms to formulate and implement IEP learning goals.
- Develops academic assessment protocols and oversees implementation to monitor student learning outcomes.
- Coordinates classroom, student, and staff schedules in accordance with academic program and human resource requirements
- Actively listens to parents, handles concerns quickly, and escalates major issues to the Head of School.
- Devises hiring and recruitment policies for Academic department; vetting all teacher candidates and conducting interviews accordingly
- Oversees the bi-annual report writing process
- Acquires new curricula where appropriate with the help of the Head of School and other instructional staff
- Networks and builds professional relationships with members of the institution and within the community.
- Monitors the progress of new and existing teaching methods.
- Ensure that teachers are maintaining appropriate attendance records in compliance with CA Policies
- Ensure that all curricula/courses offered by the school are approved and that curriculum/course reapproval requests are vetted by the Head of School
- Ensure that all instructional faculty have the appropriate credentials (licenses/certifications)
- Participate in activities as needed and/or required by the Department of Education related to specific students and/or general CA operations
- Have access to all student and school records which shall be maintained in accordance with CA policies and procedures and make them available to the Head of School upon request Responsibilities
- Master's degree in education administration or a related field.
- Teaching certification and previous teaching experience.
- Strong verbal and written skills with ability to draft documents and policies.
- The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong organizational skills.
- The ability to use tact and diplomacy in interactions with all relevant parties.
- A strong ethical code.
- Maintain a positive attitude and be open to feedback.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $89,000.00 per year
