The ideal candidate will be a results-oriented, hands-on leader, responsible for supporting the Vice President of Operations by managing the day-to-day warehouse activities and overseeing all aspects of the daily workflow and order fulfillment.
Duties:
Operational Excellence: Works to ensure timely and accurate completion of order fulfillment and inventory management. Adheres to and enforces current company policy and assists to establish/improve operational procedures, improve efficiency and productivity for all warehouse functions.
Management of Staff: Supervises a team of warehouse personnel that includes order pickers, loaders, maintenance and shipping clerks. Responsible for selecting, coaching and motivating employees.
Order Shipping/Fulfillment: Coordinates the processing of customer orders; Ensures daily shipping deadlines are met and communicates with sales/customer service about orders.
Inventory Management: Maintains inventory accuracy of high SKU counts and responsible for the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments. Conducts regular audits to ensure accuracy in inventory records. Manages inventory levels and reconciles with data storage systems.
Continuous Process Improvement: Ensures that KPI's, general work instructions and workflow processes are followed. Identifies issues and recommends process improvements to prevent repeated occurrence of mistakes and/or lack of efficiency.
Receiving: Ensures receiving is completed in a timely manner.
Quality Control: Monitors quality assurance in all facets of warehousing operations. Reviews shipping errors to implement/improve processes to avoid repeat mistakes.
Safety: Ensures all Health and Safety regulatory, training and compliance related activities are completed and followed. Maintains standards of hygiene.
Expense Management: Ensures proper billing from freight carriers and all warehouse-related purchase orders are accurate and submitted to the accounting department by the deadline. Works to keep all labor and warehouse expenses at a reasonable level.
Facility Management: Oversees general maintenance and ensures all equipment is at proper working status. Ensures security of the facility.
Documentation: Maintains proper and accurate documentation of all warehouse activities.
Sales Support: Works closely with sales leadership, sales and customer service representatives to ensure excellent customer service. Communicates with other departments as needed.
Requirements:
Proven experience in distribution management, with a minimum of 5 years in a distribution/warehouse management role.
Excellent leadership, organizational, attentiveness-to-detail, problem solving, analytical, decision making and time management skills. Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively. Must be dependable.
Strong working knowledge of DC/warehouse operations and management. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must have extensive experience with a warehouse management system (WMS) and RF scanners.
Relationship building skills a MUST.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. An ability to positively engage with people at all levels of the organization.
Must embrace a philosophy of transparency and accountability.
Must have a proven ability to quickly assimilate and have impact. Must have the ability to take a strong position when required for the best interest of the Company.
High school diploma or GED required; degree in business, management, logistics preferred.
