Public Works Department seeks a full time Maintenance Worker to perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance work, and to operate a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, and maintenance of municipal infrastructure.
PAY RANGE: $25.21 per hour - $32.14 per hour
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works as part of a crew to perform required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects; duties include pavement cutting, concrete finishing, tree trimming, and snow plowing, manhole and line cleaning, laying and backfilling, mowing and sweeping. The position ensures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking them after use; performing routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and referring defects or needed repairs to supervisor; driving trucks of various sizes and weights; operating a variety of power construction and maintenance equipment used in the Public Works department. The position performs all duties in conformance with appropriate safety and security standards.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
(A) High school diploma or equivalent, and (B) Four (4) years of experience relating to street construction, maintenance or repair, or (C) Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
B) Knowledge of, or ability to learn the operation of motorized vehicles and equipment, including, but not limited to: dump truck, pickup truck, utility truck, street sweeper, street roller, man lift, tamper, plate compactor, saws, pumps, aeroil propane kettle, compressors, sanders, generators, common hand and power tools, etc. (B) Skill in operation of some of the listed tools and equipment. (C) Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods; ability to work safely; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public; ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Requires a valid Missouri Class B CDL or the ability to obtain one at the time of employment.
