JOB SUMMARY
The position of Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing shop equipment and facility preventative maintenance, and maintenance repairs. In carrying out these tasks, maintenance workers must follow machine specifications and adhere to maintenance schedules as well as be able to respond quickly to damage or breakdowns in order to minimize down machine time/productivity loss and enable the company to operate in a cost effective and profitable manner. Must have first hand experience in maintaining air compressors and water pumps.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Industrial maintenance worker will report directly to the Maintenance Coordinator and must communicate effectively and professionally with all employees and members of management within the company.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assist the Maintenance Coordinator in developing, updating, and maintaining the Preventive Maintenance schedule board or system.
- Performs minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment. Major repairs are performed with prior authorization.
- Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects drives, motors, belts, replaces filters, grease bearings, seals, etc; repairs or replaces broken parts.
- Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments, electrical and electronic testing equipment.
- Assemble, install and/or repair wiring, electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
- Repair electrical equipment and control circuits; replace faulty electrical equipment.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly check lists on equipment maintenance procedures and maintain records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
- Record maintenance and repair work performed and the cost of the work.
- Perform routine service on heat and air units as needed.
- Utilize safety measures in the performance of the essential functions of the position and assist in the overall safety at all times in the facility.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required.
- Communicate effectively with maintenance vendors and machinery manufacturers to expedite the repair and troubleshooting process.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Position requires previous experience related to industrial and facility maintenance and familiarity with job shop machines, operations and processes.
