Role Description
The Plumber will be based in Port Au Prince, Haiti, working on a contract in support of the U.S. Department of State. This position provides supervision, leadership, oversight, and associated responsibilities to the site’s plumbing team and performs a variety of plumbing trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment. The Plumber will be responsible for performing plumbing requirements on O&M, small construction, remodeling, or renovation projects. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.
Primary Job Duties
- Experience maintaining and installing reverse osmosis
- Maintenance and operation for compressed air systems, fire suppression systems, sewage treatment and distribution systems, potable water treatment and distribution systems, steam systems, hot water generating systems
- Cut, thread, or hammer pipes to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders, or pipe benders.
- Inspect, examine, or test installed systems or pipe lines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.
- Select pipe sizes, types, or related materials, such as supports, hangers, or hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications.
- Assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing, or welding equipment
- Maintain or repair plumbing by replacing defective washers, replacing or mending broken pipes, or opening clogged drains.
- Install underground storm, sanitary, or water piping systems, extending piping as needed to connect fixtures and plumbing.
- Repair or remove and replace system components.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a plumber
- Knowledge of plumbing systems and procedures
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Good physical condition and strength
- Valid plumbing license/certification is a plus
