We are looking for a qualified Preschool Teacher, a Substitute Teacher and a VPK Aftercare Teacher. All BCA team members must desire to provide a high level of care and have a great love and patience for children. Qualifications include the need to teach them effectively, the knowledge of best practices, implementation of preschool educational methods, in addition to the ability to engage them and earn their trust. The goal is to contribute to the mental health and emotional development of the child so they can more easily acclimate in the next level of development and education. As a Christian school, teachers must be willing to incorporate biblical principles and standards of conduct to foster a environment of mutual respect and love for one another.
Responsibilities
- Develop a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children
- Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children
- Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
- Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional disagreements
- Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum and lesson plans
- Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
- Track children’s progress and report to parents
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively to children, parents, other educators and staff
- Collaborate with other educators
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
- Assist in the supervision of all students in the classroom
- Attend monthly meeting, professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
Essential Qualifications

- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and walk in and around facility
- Must be punctual and reliable with assigned hours
- Attendance to and participation in school events and weekly chapel activities

Skills
- Proven experience as a Preschool Teacher
- Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
- Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
- Excellent communication and instructional skills
- Ability to act as mediator between children
- Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
- Balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen
- Associates Degree or Higher in Early Childhood Education, FCCPC or CDA (required for Lead Teacher)
- BS/BA in education or relevant field
- Valid license/credentials to practice profession - DCF 45 hours required
