We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal to join our Bradenton office. As a Litigation Paralegal you will work closely with our talented attorneys providing support before, during and after trials. Candidate should be team oriented, organized, with the ability to complete tasks independently.
Responsibilities
· Prepare legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, complaints, legal memoranda, appellate briefs and discovery
· E-file all court documents in state and federal court.
· Communicate professionally with clients, court, counsel, and others.
· Conduct legal research and factual investigation.
· Draft discovery documents, requests and responses.
· Draft complaint packages based on county requirements.
· Coordinate and summarize depositions.
· Prepare hearing and trial binders and exhibits
· Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics).
· Maintain case files.
· Assist attorney with witness preparation, case settlement, and other tasks as directed by attorney.
Requirements
· Associate degree, certificate, or equivalent work experience (preferred)
· At least 2 years of working experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting
· Completion of a nationally accredited paralegal program (preferred)
· Experience with state and federal litigation (preferred)
· Must possess the ability to multi-task, prioritize, handle a fast-paced environment, and manage workload with a positive attitude.
· Candidate must possess strong writing skills.
· Knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules, and procedures, practices, etc.
· Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Extensive computer and database expertise, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and type no less than 35 wpm.
