The Therapeutic Recreation Specialist uses patient centered therapy, education and recreational opportunities to improve and maintain physical, cognitive, emotional, and/or social functioning to enhance patients’ independent living skills.
Job duties of the Therapeutic Rec Specialist include, but are not limited to the following:

Assesses, plans and implements leisure activities (e.g., arts, crafts, music, games, community re-entry outings) to help improve the functional skills of patients challenged by varying degrees of physical, cognitive, emotional, and/or social disabilities.

Provides patient care based upon physician referral and age-appropriate assessment and takes into consideration the patient’s developmental/chronological age when planning/implementing treatment programs designed to achieve goals set in conjunction with the patient and/or family member.

Documents in the patient’s medical record and complete other patient care-related forms in compliance with regulatory agencies and department/hospital policies and procedures.

Coordinates patient care and clinical activities through written and/or verbal communication with patients, families, managers and other members of the health care team.
Hours would be: Sat/Sun 8am-5pm
