We are a small environmental consulting firm that works with primarily public entities to ensure projects meet environmental requirements. Our services include archaeology, biological studies, wetland delineation and mitigation, shoreline assessments, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation, stormwater monitoring, noise analysis and permitting. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Primary duties-Wetland Delineation fieldwork, Wetland Functional Assessment and report writing, GPS use, digging holes, and assisting with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) compliance documents, database searches and data analysis, GIS mapping, complete permit applications and forms. Work will include site visits, field work, plant identification, interpreting engineering design plans, and coordinating/consulting with Engineers, local, state, and federal agencies and tribes.
Documents may include but are not limited to: Wetland delineation reports, functional assessments, Habitat Management Plans, Shoreline Impact Assessment, Biological Assessments. To a lesser degree it could include writing parts of Environmental Impact Statements (EIS's), Environmental Assessments (EA's), Categorical Exclusion (CE) forms, SEPA Checklists, JARPA and Joint Application Forms, Socio-economic reports, Hazardous Material Memos/reports, mitigation plans, public involvement summaries and 4(f) Evaluations. I don't expect the applicant to have experience with all of these disciplines but that knowledge is helpful.
This position will also involve occasional administrative duties including technical editing, preparing marketing materials, helping with accounting, purchasing and assisting with scopes and estimates.
Preferred Experience and Education:
- Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources, Biological, Environmental, or Planning field or working towards a degree.
- Prefer 2 years of experience in Wetland Delineation, Functional Assessments, Native Plant Identification, Environmental Planning, Biology, Engineering field and/or permitting.
- Prefer experience writing Wetland Delineation Reports, NEPA, SEPA, Critical Areas Ordinance, Shorelines Regulations, environmental permitting and an understanding of how to administer local regulations. Knowledge of noise, air quality, and water quality regulations, hazardous materials, monitoring and studies. Understanding of the Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act/wetland regulations, and Section 106 of the NHPA.
- Basic knowledge of area ecosystems, plants and animals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good abilities with MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Power point.
- Demonstrated ability to comfortably operate the latest versions of ESRI ArcGIS software, Google Earth and other online mapping applications to support environmental studies.
- Good organizational skills and willingness and ability to follow processes, improve processes, stay on budget and schedule.
- Great interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations/professionals and the public.
- Knowledge of FHWA, FAA, DOE or other federal NEPA regulations and procedures.
Physical requirements:
- Driver’s license and ability to drive and navigate to sites by vehicle, foot under all weather conditions
- Ability to perform field work in all weather conditions including walking on uneven surfaces/steep terrain, navigating using aerials and topographic maps or field equipment, digging multiple holes, recording data on forms or gps, and carrying and operating field equipment.
- Ability to travel as needed for work through Idaho, Washington and Montana. This will require occasional overnight or occasional long days.
Compensation: depends upon experience, skills and training (range $20-32/hr).
