Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Drayage Manager to oversee the operations of our drayage terminals. The Drayage Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of terminal operations, including recruiting, scheduling, billing, and all the rest of the functions it takes to make a terminal successful. The candidate will possess excellent leadership and organizational skills and MUST have port and rail experience particularly with import and export containers.
Duties:
Ensures on time delivery/pick up of freight, rate loads
Communicates with customers regarding freight appointments and any issues or problems
Manages freight levels; coordinates with other terminals
Solicits new business, provide rate quotes and negotiates rates
Recruiting of Contractors to increase fleet size in order to provide the service levels expected by our Customers
Manage the retention of Contractors by addressing problems with pay, dispatch, or any other related problem that may cause a Contractor to leave
Works with all owner operators, explains job and expectations to new applicants
Resolves payroll, dispatch and safety issues
Maintains office and yard, making sure drivers and employees follow landlord instruction
Ensures employees have the tools needed to do their jobs
Trains new employees on all facets of their jobs
Monitor and records employee attendance/time off and coordinates schedules to ensure proper coverage.
Manages profitability through maximizing revenue and minimizing expenses
Monitors COS, evaluates rates, analyze existing lanes, and driver’s pay
Maintains rapport with owner operators, drivers, and customers
Prepares weekly recap and other various reports to analyze the growth and profitability of the terminal
Rate loads to ensure accurate invoice to customer
Makes sales calls and customer maintenance (retention) calls
