We have been growing and packing sprouts in Cookeville TN for 40 years, and we’re hiring a new Quality and Food Safety Manager. Our ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or Environmental Health, and will have experience with Safe Quality Food (SQF) or Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in an RTE food production facility. Our Quality & Food Safety Manager (QFSM) acts as SQF Practitioner and PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) and leads a cross-disciplinary food safety team.
The Quality and Food Safety Manager trains employees, verifies production and testing records, maintains documentation for quality and food safety processes, and leads food safety audits.
Essential Duties and Skills
· Understand and supervise food safety programs including HACCP, sanitation, pest control, employee training, good manufacturing processes, customer complaints, supplier approval, and allergen control.
· Oversee the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of SQF audit compliance to include processes and procedures. Collaborate with Operations and Production teams to ensure adherence to SQF policies & procedures.
· Perform monthly internal audits of Quality and Food Safety System programs to ensure they are effective.
· Perform root cause analysis and complete Corrective Action/Preventive Action (CAPA) documents as needed.
· Provide a current knowledge of legislative regulations in regard to food safety, packaging & labeling requirements, and advances in scientific & technical fields relevant to food and industry best practices.
· Host annual audits by SQF, Organic, Kosher, Non-GMO, and other certification bodies as needed.
· Supervise two Quality Control Technicians and cross-train as backup to perform lab tests as needed to cover vacation or sick days.
· Maintain, update, and disseminate knowledge through continuing education courses, seminars, conferences, industry alliances & organizations, and monitoring regulatory websites.
