Job Description Summary:
As a Governess, your responsibilities include providing daily care and supervision for two young children, aged 3 and 4.5 years old. Additionally, you’ll be supporting a special needs child who requires specialized services for their care and development. These services encompass various aspects, such as identifying top specialists, nutrition planning, arranging therapy sessions, coordinating with educators (both in-home and external), and staying informed about the latest research and best practices. Regular monitoring of developmental stages and adherence to recommendations from experts are essential. You will also provide expert reports to keep the parents informed about the sources and findings of your research.
Role and Responsibilities:
· Identifying Specialists: Your primary responsibility is to identify and collaborate with top specialists in various fields (nutrition, therapy, education, etc.) to ensure the best care for the special needs child.
· Ongoing Monitoring: Continuously monitor the child’s developmental stages and stay updated on the latest best practices and treatments recommended by leading specialists. This includes ensuring that all care and educational plans are up-to-date and aligned with the latest advancements and expert recommendations.
· Research and Expert Reports: Conduct thorough research, provide detailed reports to parents, and offer expert-backed recommendations.
· Communication: Maintain open communication with parents, sharing progress updates, and new opportunities for enhancing the child’s development. Ensure that all information is presented clearly and comprehensively, supporting the parents in their ongoing journey to provide the best care for their child.
· Educational Activities: Develop and implement age-appropriate educational activities/ lessons that aligned with Montessori principles.
· Safety and Emotional Well-being: Ensure the children’s safety, emotional well-being, and proper manners.
· Structured Routine: Organize a balanced daily routine from educational, recreational, social and rest periods.
· Eating/ Table Behaviors: Teach and reinforce proper manners, table manners, and social skills. Encourage and support the 4.5-year-old in overcoming selective eating habits and social challenges.
· Utilize Technology: Incorporate educational technology.
· Extracurriculars: Plan social activities and outings.
· Environment: Foster a love of learning through creative and engaging teaching methods tailored to the needs of an autistic child was well as maintaining a clean, organized, and stimulating learning environment
Qualifications:
· Experience:
- Minimum 15+ years of experience in a similar role. (Governess, Nanny, Teacher) Preferred experience with younger children
· Education:
- Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Special Education.
- Experience in Montessori Education highly preferred.
· Skills:
- Strong understanding of child development, teaching skills, organizational abilities, empathy, and tech-savviness.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to manage selective eating and social issues with sensitivity.
- Experience working with autistic children and understanding their unique needs.
- Outstanding organizational and communication skills.
· Certifications:
- CPR and First Aid preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
· Travel:
- Must be able to travel with family and children when needed
